The impact of the evolving spread of COVID-19 across the province of Ontario and throughout our District requires that we do everything we can to flatten the curve of that spread. The Provincial Government recently declared a provincial State of Emergency effectively closing down all but essential services and businesses in the province. Each day the number of services and businesses that must be closed is assessed by the Premier and additions provided to that list.
Everyone is directed by the provincial declaration to work from home unless that is not possible and to practice strict physical distancing according to the guidelines issued by the province.
In terms of the services provided by your municipality we have closed all facilities to public access including parks and other recreational facilities. Essential municipal services will continue to be delivered by the municipal administration. If you have questions regarding those services, you may call the municipal office during the week at 705-776-2641 and we will provide answers or redirect your call.
Recognizing the seriousness of this crisis and what we all need to do in order to mitigate the spread, as Mayor and head of the Emergency Control Group I want to inform you that all future municipal events including public meetings of Council and committee have been suspended indefinitely. This includes the Canada Day celebrations and the Summer Camp program in July and August. At such time as we are able to resume some of those activities I will let you know through postings on our website or notices sent out through Citizens Alert or in a flyer which we publish and distribute 2 or 3 times a month.
Mayor Randall McLaren.
