Bonfield Township Update 1 – COVID 19 Emergency
Friday March 20, 2020
Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) as you may well know was recently declared as an emergency by the Province of Ontario. This is currently a significant concern for the global economy as well as our own community, owing to its threat to human life and its potential to severely disrupt businesses and activities.
All owners are responsible for any unpaid property taxes. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the Council of the Township of Bonfield has decided to extend the Interim Tax Billing due date of March 26th, 2020 to April 30th, 2020.
After the extended due date, there will be a grace period for interest/penalty being applied on the current taxes only, until further notice.
However, interest/penalty will continue to be applied on all prior tax arrears on a monthly basis. These issues will be revisited at a later date and as circumstances change.
Hello everyone, this message is written by Dr. Steven Steinberg and Nicole Coker, our Medical Secretary and skilled Venipuncturist. We have arranged through telephone conversations, video links through Telemedicine and house calls a new way of managing your non-urgent medical needs rather than physically meeting at the Clinic. We have reviewed our methods with the Manager of the Ministry of Health for the North, the Mayor, the CAO, other Physicians and the OMA. I will do my best to continue the work I have begun in Bonfield. The messages you leave at the clinic with your correct phone number will be returned as soon as possible. This new method of managing health care is evolving every day, you will be kept informed of any changes. Your suggestions are important to us.
The Pandemic is real. It is normal to feel alarmed and fearful. Those feelings will help protect you, but it is important for you to know the facts. Please go to the websites recommended by your municipal officials and the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit. As scientific facts develop, I will pass them on to you as well.

The Landfill Site will be opened on Saturday as usual. As we do our part in Social Distancing the Landfill will not require you to have your landfill pass punched for usage. Tipping Fee Invoices will still be issued with an envelope to deposit your payment. Often the Landfill is a social gathering place however, during this time, be mindful of your personal space and quickly use the landfill and return home. If we can continue to operate in this fashion, the landfill will remain open. Let’s do our part to look after each other.

Remember to check on your neighbours, regardless of their age, as they are vulnerable when in isolation and without internet.
