The Ontario Provincial Police is continually striving to improve efficiency in processes and service delivery. One such efficiency is the new “Online Reporting” option where members of the public can report selected incidents using their mobile device, laptop, tablet or computer. This new option will eliminate the need to place a phone call to the Provincial Communications Centre and wait for an officer to attend the scene.
This strategy of implementing an effective use of technology is helping the OPP maintain its high level of service to the public while maintaining fiscal responsibility and accountability to the citizens of Ontario. It’s important to note that an increased use of Online Reporting will allow frontline officers to focus efforts on other tasks including proactive police work in the communities we serve.
Use of Online Reporting is completely optional but provides yet another way for citizens to report crimes that are not emergencies.
